Senior Quality and Compliance Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Quality and Compliance Officer to join our Quality and Compliance team.  This role will provide reporting and compliance documentation inline with relevant processes and best practice guidelines including the National Disability Insurance Scheme’s (NDIS) Quality and Safety Framework.

Our Senior Quality and Compliance Officer plays an important role in contributing to organisational risk management, regulatory and licensing requirements and continual organisational improvement.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Quality and Compliance Officer your role will include:

  • Maintaining an understanding of the relevant statutory and regulatory operating requirements, monitoring regulatory changes and providing recommendations. 
  • Supporting the business in embedding a complete and consistent application of contemporary information management and associated processes (including quality, safety and environmental management). 
  • Undertaking desktop and field-based internal audits to promote, verify and report on compliance, and facilitate continuous improvement. 
  • Investigating and responding to issues and audits regarding compliance with operational contract service delivery outcomes. 
  • Identifying operational and compliance risks and providing recommendations to the Manager Quality, Compliance and Workplace for consideration and implementation. 
  • Encouraging continuous improvement and identifying opportunities and initiatives. 
  • Reporting and reviewing hazards and incidents to understand cause, recommend actions to prevent future issues, and monitor effectiveness of mitigations. 
  • Contributing to investigations and determining causes of noncompliance, irregularities and errors resulting from compliance work. 
  • Assisting with adapting procedures, systems and controls to meet compliance requirements. 
  • Other duties as required from time to time in relation to the area of expertise.

About you

Successful candidates will have the following (Selection Criteria): 

The following criteria must be addressed by candidates using their relevant personal and professional skills, qualifications, training, achievements and areas for development.

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to promote a positive compliance and risk mitigation culture and continual improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in a compliance discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in the implementation and evaluation of safety, environmental and quality systems to ensure compliance with legislation and regulations.
  • Ability to understand and apply relevant legislation, regulations, policies and standards.
  • Well-developed computer skills including data management and analysis.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and changes in priorities while maintaining capacity to plan, organise and prioritise tasks
  • High level of interpersonal skills with experience in negotiation, organisation, problem solving and customer relations.
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all organisational levels.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills combined with excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience in any of the following areas: complaints/incident investigation and management, continuous improvement and/or OHS and Risk reporting.
  • Experience in a similar position in the not-for-profit sector (desirable)
  • Experience in internal auditing (desirable)
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, complete or in-progress (desirable)

Working in the disability sector means you will also need the following:

  • Current National Police Check (no more than 6 months old)
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Card (with a NDIS endorsement/employment type)
  • Unrestricted Tasmanian Driver’s license
