This National Volunteer Week, we recognise and celebrate the valuable contributions and commitment of our volunteer Board Members.
We pride ourselves on having a skills-based Board, which oversees governance and strategy and includes community members from a variety of backgrounds. Our Board members generously volunteer their time to provide insight and guidance from their areas of expertise.
“Nexus is very lucky to have a Board with diverse experience and skills, who can offer the management team great support and advice,” Nexus CEO Mark Jessop said.
We are also excited to introduce our newest Board Members: Deb Reid, Martin Moroni, and Merrilyn Williams. Like all our Board Members, they bring with them a wealth of knowledge, professional expertise, and a deep passion for the disability sector.
Deb Reid:
Deb has spent nearly three decades improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health through policy and reform at national and state levels. She has held key leadership roles in government and universities, helping shape community health services and partnerships with Aboriginal communities.
Martin Moroni:
Martin is the founder of The E[ART]H Project, which combines science and Aboriginal culture to promote sustainable land care through art, and he chairs KickstART Arts, supporting community wellbeing through creative initiatives. He also manages Bioenergy at the Department of State Growth, bringing deep expertise in environmental management and renewable energy.
Merrilyn Williams:
Merrilyn has combined her background in law and psychology with over a decade of service on tribunals supporting people with disability and mental health conditions. She now manages operations at the Legal Profession Board of Tasmania and has led charitable efforts for disadvantaged youth through the Motors Foundation.
