Last week, Nexus was selected as one of only 44 providers across Australia to participate in the NDIS Quality Supports Program – Supported Independent Living (SIL) Pilot.
This is an important opportunity for Nexus to work with the NDIS to help them better understand the needs of participants with complex support needs including behavioural, physical, and mental health considerations.
Over the next 12 months, Nexus will provide details of our practice model, financial performance, and case studies. During this period, the SIL Pilot team will work closely with us to ensure that participants’ voices are heard directly throughout the process.
Together with other providers and the NDIA, Nexus will also take part in the first Community of Practice workshop later this year. The workshop will focus on how providers are delivering quality supports and provide an opportunity to share new models of care and practices to improve and sustain SIL services.
The SIL Pilot includes grant funding to help offset the costs of participation. As part of our involvement, we will expand our training initiatives (such as our Autism Capability Building Program), further develop and implement the Active Support Program, and contribute to the development of new child safety training.
“We are very excited to be involved in this pilot – both to demonstrate what we see as best practice, and to hear from other providers across Australia, Nexus CEO Mark Jessop said.
