Congratulations to one of our former Customised Employment Program clients, Jack who has secured a full-time job working at a thriving local property maintenance business, CP group!
This is a fantastic achievement for Jack, who has worked very hard over the years and quickly became known for his willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
After learning new skills and gaining his confidence through Nexus Customised Employment Program, Jack’s enthusiasm and willingness to give new things a go saw him work in our social enterprise, SEED’s cleaning team, gardening team, general maintenance and, most recently, waste management at SEED’s Recycle Rewards Depot in Goodwood.
Along the way, he also earned his driver’s and forklift licences – earning him the nickname “Jack of all trades!”
With his growing skillset and confidence, our Employment Facilitator James saw the perfect opportunity and recommended Jack to CP Group and they were delighted to bring him on board.
“At Nexus we believe that visibility and representation of people with disability in the workforce is crucial for changing preconceived ideas of what people with disability can contribute to our community,” James said.
“Thanks to our strong relationships with local businesses like CP Group, our clients have access to real platforms for open employment once they’ve built the skills and confidence through our programs,” he said.
Jack credits the training and support he received through Nexus’s Customised Employment program and SEED for helping him build the confidence to take this next step.
“It was a great opportunity (at Nexus and SEED) and very nice people are working there, and being there definitely opened new windows of opportunities for me,” Jack said.
“I am grateful for this opportunity at my new workplace, I love it, it pushes me further to learn something new every day, it’s very exciting!”
Congratulations and all the best for this exciting new role, Jack!
